ABOUT US

Our History

In 2006 our founder, James Beriault, an ocean conservationist and activist became increasingly frustrated with the growing problems of ocean based pollution, disregard for the marine environment and the looming prospect of global damage to the planet where his family lives and plays. He's personally seen neurological damage in his own family and he's convinced it's due to pollution, high levels of mercury in our land and water and other chemical toxicants.  During a trip to Maui he came face to face with the growing problem of Plastics Pollution.

As a strong advocate for the oceans and beaches of the world, the question he asked himself was, "what can I do to make a difference for our oceans?"  To start, he joined environmental groups, donated money and wrote letters to legislators.  This small amount of activism led to an important epiphany, he needed to create a company that could assist the outstanding organizations dedicated to making a difference for our oceans.   Planet Protect Sportswear was born - an ocean activist sportswear company dedicated to making a difference for our marine environments.

Jim has tried to find responsible manufacturers, those that work hard to minimize their footprint, recycle, reuse and are active in the community and use as many sustainable/organic materials as possible in the organic sportswear mix. It is a daily challenge to find clothing that do not impact the environment.  It is Planet Protect's goal to have its own line of clothing, with total control over all aspects of production by 2010 and become a leader in the organic sportswear market.

"Everyone buys clothes, and everyone loves the beach, if I can have a small portion of your apparel business, I can help make a difference on your behalf. I want to thank all who have taken the time to learn more about Planet Protect and we hope you tell your friends, family and co-workers to visit us," said Jim.

Our Mission

"It is our goal to design and sell hip and cool beach and summer wear, seek sustainable and organic materials for our apparel, make sizable donations to organizations fighting on our behalf and our marine eco-systems, get to the beach more often, and take care of our customers each and every day. It is our goal to become a leader in the Organic Sportswear marketplace and make fashion and activisim part of our company outreach."
